“It was a bold move by politicians to adopt Hamar’s art project on the Square.” Is the opening sentence for the featuring article on Arkitektnytt (New Architect magazine), an architecture magazine published by the National Association of Norwegian Architects (NAL).
“‘I choose to call it a public project because the Spanish architects invite the citizens and artists to contribute with their ideas,’ says the architect Geir Cock ‘We wish to strengthen the participation aspect and therefore a laboratory is established in the square to welcome people’s suggestions’”.

Today we would like to share with you the Crown Heights participatory urbanism, a research project in Brooklyn initiated by SUPERFRONT’s 2011 architect in residence – Manuel Ávila.
The Crown Heights Participatory Urbanism project takes a landscape urbanism approach to rethink residual spaces adjacent spaces to the Franklin Avenue shuttle train towards a new public space network. The project is founded on the idea of creating a common ground for residents, business owners, governmental entities and local community organizations for a more plural public spaces in the context of a diverse emergent community in the Crow Hill/Crown Heights neighborhood.

Archdaily, the world’s most visited architecture website, has dedicated a post for the winning proposal ONETHOUSANDSQUARE.
“Invitasjon til demokrati” was last week’s title in Hamar Dagblad, a local newspaper.
“‘I think the Spanish project is exciting, especially because it invites us to participate in a democratic process’ says Brox Haugen (..) ‘Today the square is large, sloping, gray and noisy. We, the local residents, must find out, preferably together, how we can make it more inviting.’”

Today we would like to share with you a post that was published on edgargonzalez, an online magazine used by Spanish architects, artists and designers.
“Ecosistema Urbano has been named the winner of a competition to design an intervention in the main square of Hamar in Norway titled OneThousandSquare.”
Or Støtter kunstprosjektet på Stortorget is the title of last week’s local newspaper featuring ONETHOUSANDSQUARE project. It includes an interview with Professor Fredrik Lund, an architect teaching at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Here is an extract of that interview:
“Professor Fredrik Lund who is familiar with the Spanish architects work is positive the project will be a success (…) Lund has followed Ecosistema Urbano projects since 2007, and became so impressed with them that he traveled to Spain to see their projects with his own eyes. ‘These people really know what they are doing. They contribute with something that is new, exciting and socially inclusive’, he says.”
